Our No School Adventure

Homeschooling our children in Ontario

Hi! I’m Laura the No School Momma. My family and I live in a small town near Sarnia, Ontario. My Husband, David, and I decided that we are going to homeschool our children; Tessa and Quinn.  For me it was an easy choice. I have seen to many things happen in the school systems lately that I either do not agree with or do not want to subject my children to. So Homeschooling it is!!!

I am writting this blog for a few reasons. #1- So I can keep track of the fun/important things Im teaching my children. #2 so my family can see what fun/important things my children are learning and #3- So my kids can go back and see what they learned. If I end up with any people following my blog then I hope you will get some good information, learn something new or find something fun to do with your kids.

I will be the primary teacher while my hubby works and we will be implementing a relaxed/eclectic method (http://www.homeschool.com/Approaches/Eclectic.asp).

We are going to incorporate a little Charlotte Mason by only using “Living Books” (http://simplycharlottemason.com/basics/faq/livingbook/).

We will be using various text and games and web sites for both Math and Science.

But for the most part we are going to be unschooling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unschooling)

We are also a part of one of the local Homeschool Groups called “A Different Drum Sarnia/Lambton”  (https://www.facebook.com/groups/185825591485630/ , http://groups.yahoo.com/group/A_Different_Drum_Sarnia_Lambton/)

There is another homeschool group in Sarnia that is a Christian based co-op called HIGHdays. But at the moment I do not feel this is the right time for us to join with the HIGHdays group.

I hope anyone reading or following my blog enjoys what I postand feel free to comment as often as you would like. I will warn you now…..I go a little click-happy with my camera so you can expect that when I remember to pull it out…there will be lots of pictures. I will try to limit the amout I post on here if I can
